Your home from home
The Hutch is a new build holiday cottage within the grounds of our own house. We have built it over the summer of 2017 based on what we look for in holiday accommodation (style and substance), and therefore hope you won't be lacking in anything.
Parking for up to two cars is off road just outside the cottage, where you can then access The Hutch through your own gated entrance with outside security light. .
On entering The Hutch step into the light, bright hallway. On your immediate left is your fully tiled, luxury bathroom with full length bath, overhead power shower, fluffy towels, posh shower gel, handwash and handcream. Bath robes are provided for your use during your stay.
Opposite the bathroom is the bedroom. Again, we have tried to finish the room to a high standard. There is a king size bed with deep mattress, high thread count Egyptian cotton bedding, plump pillows, cushions and stylish bedside lights for night or day time reading. A generous sized wardrobe with hanging space, drawers and shelves is tucked in the corner, where there is also space for a travel cot if required (which we can provide). Full length mirror, hairdryer, iron and ironing board are also provided. The bedroom has dual aspect windows, with blackout blinds but is private.
Walking through the hallway you enter the open plan living, dining and kitchen room. The over riding feature is the wonderful views over the surrounding farmland - deer, sheep, cows and horses can often be seen. There is a comfy 3 seater sofa with lot of cushions and a fluffy throw, coffee table with travel and interior books to browse, flat screen TV, electric fireplace, large cupboard with more books, local information, board games and baby/toddler toys and books. Positioned in front of the floor to ceiling windows, is a dining table and comfy dining chairs for two people (high chair can also be provided). The kitchen is a stylish, modern light grey with washer/dryer, fridge (with small freezer box), oven, electric hob, kettle, toaster, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. The kitchen sink looks straight onto trees where you might see wild birds hopping around. Owls are also a common nocturnal noise here.
Finally, French doors lead out of the living area onto a purpose built wooden deck terrace. From this elevated position you look over our garden onto the surrounding fields. An unusual metalwork bird feeder (made by a blacksmith down the road at Exeter Quay) encourages the local birds to entertain you. A Weber charcoal BBQ and bistro set are there to be enjoyed day or evening.
In terms of provisions, tea, coffee, sugar, olive oil, salt and pepper are available regardless of length of stay. For breakfast we supply you with bread, butter, jam, marmalade, cereal, museli, porridge and milk. For those staying 3 nights or more we will make sure you have a bottle of wine to sip and some homemade cake. Within 5-10 drive is a small McColls shop and Tesco Express can be found in St Thomas, or a large Sainsburys in Alphington.
A welcome pack will be in The Hutch providing local information, but if you are new to the area and are looking for restaurant recommendations or a taxi to be booked before you arrive, then please let me know.
