ABOUT US AND HOW TO CONTACT US
You might be wondering why we called our cottage, The Hutch. There are a couple of reasons. Firstly, because it is a compact, but perfectly formed bolt hole. Secondly because our own house, of which The Hutch is within the grounds of, is called Warrendown because it looks onto rolling farmland, called (you guessed it) Warren Down. We do like to think our Hutch is more comfortable and luxurious than sleeping on hay though. The addition of The Burrow during the Summer of 2020, obviously sits well with the naming theme but it is also nestled under our own house.
We moved from Surrey to Longdown in February 2016 as part of a long desired dream to live in the South West. A big attraction in moving here was the proximity to a city but that we live in the countryside and near the coast.
While we live in the main house (20 metres) across the drive from The Hutch, we will welcome you, answer any questions you have and be on hand for help, but also leave you to your own devices. We do have a child (almost a co-host now!) and two beagles, who are friendly but sometimes have a tendency to woof at guests. Chester and Billy can easily be bribed though!
We have tried hard to create the type of holiday cottage we look for and enjoy staying in. This means The Hutch and The Burrow are both more contemporary and boutique, than traditional in style and feel, but with all the comforts you expect.
We started taking bookings from mid November 2017 and are delighted by the reviews we have been receiving. Please see the Reviews heading above or read the latest on Airbnb, Booking.com or TripAdvisor. We have been awarded Airbnb Superhost status for the last six years and have achieved an average Booking.com rating of 9.7 out of 10.
