Moors, beaches, city and country
The Hutch and The Burrow are perfectly placed in mid Devon. We moved to this area for a few reasons, but the proximity to a wonderful cathedral city, Dartmoor and fantastic beaches are the main attractions. In Longdown, we feel that we have one foot in the city, one in the country, with fingers stretching over to the moors and the sea on either side. Truly, the best of both worlds.
We are located 3 miles to the west of Exeter and 3 miles from the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Proximity to such a fabulous city and also to the wild moorland scenery. The glorious beaches of Exmouth, Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren are about 20-30 mins drive away .
Longdown is a small, quiet village just 10 mins drive outside of Exeter. It is definitely best to bring a car, although for short stays you can get around via a country bus service which passes through the village between Moretonhampstead and Exeter, or cycle (there are some big hills though) or taxi. A taxi from the city back to us in the evening is around £15-20.
As you can see from our reviews we appeal to a broad range of guests. Those wanting to get away from city life, those who love a good view, those who want a night out in the city or those want a walk along the beach or on the moors.
