THE BURROW

Comfort, style and views

The Burrow is a new garden apartment occupying part of the ground floor of our house. It is completely separate to our house, with your own entrance. It was built it over the summer of 2020 following the success of The Hutch.

  • Off street parking for one car outside your front door with your own gated entrance and security light.

  • Light and bright modern luxury bathroom with full length bath, overhead power shower, fluffy towels, posh shower gel and handwash. Bathrobes are provided for your use during your stay.

  • King size bed with deep mattress, soft bedding, plump pillows, cushions and stylish bedside lights for night or day time reading. A generous sized wardrobe with hanging space, full length mirror, ironing board, iron and  hairdryer. (Please note: The wardrobe also has a connecting door into our house, but this is always locked when guests are in residence. We never enter via this door unless The Burrow is empty). The bedroom can also accommodate either a travel cot or fold out bed which we provide. This is suitable for children up to 10 years old only. No adults please.

  • Open plan living, dining and kitchen room with wonderful views over the surrounding farmland and distant Devon hills. There is a comfy 3 seater sofa, coffee table with travel and interior books to browse, flat screen Smart TV (Netflix, iPlayer) and baby/toddler toys and books. Dining table and chairs with overhead feature light. High chair can also be provided.

  • The kitchen has stylish, modern white and light ash units and is well equipped. There is a fridge (with small freezer box), electric oven, induction hob, kettle, toaster, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. Pods are provided.

In terms of provisions, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, olive oil, salt and pepper are available regardless of length of stay. As is breakfast where we provide you with bread, butter, jam, marmalade, pastries, cereal, muesli  porridge and local milk. For those staying 3 nights or more we will make sure you have a bottle of wine to sip.

Within 5-10 drive is a small Morrisons shop and Tesco Express can be found in St Thomas, or a large Sainsburys in Alphington, on the outskirts of Exeter. A milk vending machine has recently opened in Longdown itself, we therefore provide you with a reusable glass bottle of local milk and if you need anymore feel free to top up the bottle yourself!

Your outside space
  • French doors lead out of the living area onto your patio. From here you can enjoy amazing views over our local fields and through the trees to the rolling Devon countryside.  A Weber charcoal BBQ and dining table and chairs are there to be enjoyed day or evening. Solar lights illuminate your patio in the evening.

  • Parking for one car is right outside your door. This parking area is shared with The Hutch and we recommend where possible you reverse down the drive. Parking for The Burrow is on the right hand (garden) side as you come down the drive.

  • EV charging for your car is available (for a charge). This is outside our front door, on the top driveway.
