Reviews of The Hutch and The Burrow

"The Burrow is a lovely, modern place to stay, set in a beautiful part of Devon. Waking up to those views made a nice change! Couldn’t ask for anything else and even at this time (covid), you can tell the attention to detail is there. Chloe is a friendly and attentive host who is there if you need her and makes you feel very welcome. Longdown is quickly accessed from Exeter with easy links to the moors and the coastal towns so makes it a great option for a trip to Devon. Amazing pub down the road, too! Would definitely return."

"We would thoroughly recommend staying at The Burrow if you'd like a place to fully recharge, replenish and to connect with nature. The views are beyond stunning and we recommend watching the sun rise/set out the living room glass doors. Chloe provides little touches to make everything very warm and inviting. She is also easily on hand for any questions and checked in to see how we were. I really cannot recommend this place enough. We are thinking of returning for some more peaceful getaways, and hoping this places becomes a staple in our UK getaways."

"The Burrow provided us with the perfect little escape that we so desperately needed - it was so quiet, peaceful and done to a high standard. Becoming new parents in the middle of a pandemic was stressful and we needed a chance to get away and relax. The view from the patio were stunning and we enjoyed sitting out with a hot drink during our little boys nap times! Chloe was a fantastic host too and the communication was brilliant :)"

"Our stay at The Burrow was fantastic! The accommodation was well equipped for everything we needed, from immaculate finishes to the homely touches. A few of the lovely touches included a selection of breakfast options, fresh milk from the local farm and a bottle of wine on arrival. Everything was sparkling clean and COVID-19 provisions were taken. The outside area was perfect for a coffee in the morning, overlooking spectacular country views. Communication throughout our stay was excellent and Chloe & Alan were always on hand to answer any questions. The location is perfect, placing you close the National Park, coastal walks, local towns and Exeter city centre. There’s also a local pub about a minute walk down the road that serves amazing food! It’s definitely worth a visit! While it may be connected to the house, the property feels completely private and like your own country getaway. We would highly recommend The Burrow!"

"All the style and comfort of a boutique hotel with all the comforts of home. The Hutch is in the perfect place to have the peace of the countryside but very easy access to Exeter. Our enjoyment of Dartmoor was enhanced by the Hutch having OS maps and suggested walks to help us find our way around. Chloe is a friendly host, who made it clear she was there to sort out any problems then gave us space to relax and enjoy our break. Highly recommend - the Hutch will be the first place we try to book next time we visit Exeter."

"The Hutch is beautifully decorated throughout and a great place to relax. This is our second visit and we hope to stay again in the future. It is really comfortable with welcoming touches, very clean, warm, quiet and private. The private off road parking is also a real bonus. Exeter city centre is a very short drive away. There are lovely country walks from the house and a great restaurant/pub a very short walk from the house. This is the perfect place to stay for visiting Exeter and Dartmoor."

"Thanks Chloe for being a great host. Such a short time we spent at The Hutch but you have really nailed what an Airbnb property should be. Spot on! Perfect location for Exeter (10mins drive to centre) and a beautiful view of the countryside. Went for a drink at the Lamb, lovely local pub - will definitely come back to try the food there and would not hesitate to stay at your property again. 5 stars all round!"

"The Hutch is amazing. Chloe and Alan are wonderful hosts, so helpful and thoughtful. Lovely touches on arrival, loved every bit of our stay. The view is amazing, and we loved seeing the deer, foxes, buzzards and rabbits in the field."

"One of the best Airbnb’s we stayed at! Everything that we could possibly need or want during our stay was there. Highly recommended if you’re travelling with a small child; a travelcot was already set up for us and a high chair which made our lives so much easier. There were even toys, books, plates, cups, cutlery and bibs provided for our 1 year old. We would highly recommend staying here and hope to come back some day!"

"We had an amazing time staying at The Hutch. Our host, Chloe, was very approachable, attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The location was great and close to Dartmoor and Exeter. The supermarket was a 10 minute drive away, but the pub was only a 2 minute walk so no complaints here. The apartment is lovely. The decor is very stylish and it’s clear that Chloe takes pride in the property. The apartment contains everything you could need- a brand new washer/dryer, magazines, books, walking maps and tourist info to name a few. No dishwasher, however the tree views when washing the dishes makes this chore a little more pleasant. Everything is spotlessly clean. Small touches such as home made cakes upon arrival, baby toys for our daughter and a change of towels part way through our stay made everything that much nicer."

"Wonderful start to our UK holiday! Chloe was so gracious and accommodating. We rested as soon as we arrived and it was so soothing to listen to the birds chirping as we napped. Later, we walked down to The Lamb and enjoyed a truly delicious meal prepared lovingly by Dolton, the owner and chef. After a very comfortable night's sleep, we sadly had to leave the next morning. The only regret is not having more time to spend here."

"The Hutch is a beautiful peaceful place to stay. Chloe and Alan have thought of every little detail and I always love coming here. Highly recommended, but not so that it gets too busy that I can't stay anymore!"

Suzie, UK, January 2019

"I was thrilled to find The Hutch available again after too long with others enjoying it, it’s just not on! My third or fourth visit to stay with Chloe and every bit as good as the previous visits, and I’m back in a couple of weeks. Everything you need is provided and it’s such a lovely warm, cosy and quiet place. Absolutely perfect. Now if others can stop booking so I have free run, that would be even better!"

"A lovely little cottage very thoughtfully setup. A true gem in a lovely location. Chloe was a very thoughtful host. We had a great week chilling out and visiting some of Devon's coastal towns. Highly recommended."

Robyn and Alan, Australia, October 2018

"The Hutch is a peaceful, pastoral refuge not so far from the action of Exeter and the many delights of Dartmoor. We had a marvellous three nights there. The modern & cheerful decor was most welcome - many of the accommodations we had on our tour of Britain were old and creaky (not that there's anything wrong with that, but this made a very nice contrast). The hosts were very quick to respond if we had any needs or questions and when we look back on this magnificent trip we will smile to recall Chloe and her family. We shall return as soon as we can!"

"The Hutch truly is a ‘home from home’. Set in the peaceful village of Longdown but just a few minutes from the bustling city centre (taxi only £11), this is the best of both worlds. Chloe, Alan and their family were great hosts, always on hand if we had any questions but left us to our own devices too. The Hutch itself is gorgeous. So cosy and decorated and kitted out to exceptional standard, it really feels like luxury. Thank you for a lovely stay!"

"We had six glorious days at 'The Hutch' and would strongly recommend this lovely spot to anyone. Chloe is an amazingly responsive and hospitable host. The Hutch is a lovingly appointed, modern, sparkling clean and private stand-alone structure on their family property. The appliances and television are brand new and the decor is modern and very pleasing. The internet connection is very good and very fast. The spot definitely has a 'five-star' look and feel. The location is about 10-15 minutes from the Exeter city center, but the gorgeous view from the deck is tranquil Devon countryside and farmland. Dartmoor is about 15 minutes away in the opposite direction. The property is close to the A30/M5 for easy access. We had rented properties all over the world for the last 15 years and this ranks among the best. Thank you, Chloe, for making such a lovely spot available."

Munroe and Debbie, USA, July 2018

"The Hutch is a stylish, self-contained, and high-end guest suite that offers excellent amenities, and a homely atmosphere. It's beautiful rural setting makes it hard to believe that you're only 3 miles from Exeter's amenities, nightlife, and transport links. Ideal for those looking to dip their toes into rural living, without sacrificing modern comforts of home. The local area is beautiful, and ideal for long walks down country lanes and public footpaths. Chloe and Al are excellent hosts, and made us feel very welcome. We wouldn't hesitate staying at the Hutch again the next time we're in Devon."

Anthony, UK, June 2018

"We had such a lovely break at 'The Hutch'. The accommodation was immaculate and it seemed our every need was considered and catered for. We were particularly pleased to have had the travel cot, high chair provided, which eased the luggage load considerably. In addition, the toys and books helped to keep our 10month old thoroughly entertained, which was a great bonus. The coffee machine was a fab addition to the kitchen and we were very grateful to have our request for extra coffee 'pods' responded to so rapidly. In fact all our communication with the hosts was excellent. We were given a warm welcome and felt able to contact Alan whenever and for whatever reason. The location is ideal for visiting Exeter by car, which we did and we could and would have liked to explore more of Devon's attractions, but we only have 2 nights unfortunately. We would've loved to have stayed longer."

Verity, UK, May 2018

"The Hutch is an amazing place! It is just the perfect place to rest after a hiking day is the moors nearby. Chloe and Alan are very welcoming and designed a really stunning little cottage. It is perfectly located to drive around the region and go hiking to Dartmoor. We had a really great time there!"

Arnaud and Julie, France, May 2018

"The Hutch is the perfect gateway to where modern meets country. Our stay was so comfortable and warm. The hutch is very light filled and inviting! We loved the views over the country fields and the binoculars and little bird guide books were handy and we enjoyed our mornings and afternoons watching them! The hutch was very well equipped for meals in, and gives you a feeling of being away from it all - yet the town is just a very short drive away! Amenities are well functioning and modern, perfect heating in the whole place, and loved all the info in the book about how to use everything and local tips! We loved the hutch so much we wished we could move in! It was a pleasure to wake up to and a pleasure to return to after a long day out! Chloe and Alan are excellent hosts who practice the perfect balance of privacy and interaction. Thank you both for such a wonderful stay!"

"I had high hopes of the Hutch having followed it from pre-planning stage, and wasn't disappointed! A really lovely modern, clean spacious place that is in an ideal location to explore Exeter and the wider area. I was down for 4 days visiting friends and the Hutch provided me with a warm and cosy place to rest up after a day out in the countryside, the excellent kitchen facilities made it easy to cook up meals and the shower is nice and powerful. The quiet surroundings made for peaceful nights sleep and I loved the views. Chloe and Alan were very attentive hosts and Chester their dog is charming! Will definitely be returning."

Kim, UK, January 2018

"Chloe was a fabulous and attentive host. She was very accommodating and understanding when our arrival was delayed by 2 hours and made sure we were well informed and settled before leaving us to enjoy our stay. The Hutch is very clean, stylish, cosy and has a modern feel to it. The rock cakes we an added bonus. Thank you again - would definitely return and would definitely recommend!"
